What Should You Check Before Choosing a Kitchen Tap?

Appearance matters, but compatibility determines whether the tap will work correctly in your kitchen.

01
Available water pressure

Confirm that your hot and cold supplies meet the tap’s minimum pressure requirement.

02
Tap-hole requirements

Check the required mounting-hole diameter and maximum worktop or sink thickness.

03
Under-sink space

Allow room for filter cartridges, hoses and any boiling-water tank required by the system.

04
Filtration compatibility

Make sure the tap connections are suitable for your existing or planned water-filtration system.

05
Spout reach and height

Measure against your sink and any windows, shelves or cupboards positioned above it.

06
Finish care

Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning guidance and avoid abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners.

Frequently asked questions

Kitchen Filter Tap FAQs

Practical answers about tap functions, compatibility, installation and ongoing maintenance.

What is a 3-way kitchen tap?

A 3-way kitchen tap dispenses normal hot, normal cold and filtered drinking water from one tap. The filtered water travels through a separate internal pathway to help prevent it mixing with the normal hot and cold supplies.

It removes the need to install a separate drinking-water tap in an additional sink or worktop hole.

What is the difference between a 3-way and 4-in-1 tap?

A standard 3-way filter tap normally provides hot, cold and filtered cold water. A 4-in-1 boiling-water tap generally provides normal hot, normal cold, filtered cold and near-boiling water.

Product terminology can vary, so always check the listed water options rather than relying only on the product name.

Can a 3-way tap be used with reverse osmosis?

Many 3-way taps can be connected to a suitable under-sink reverse osmosis system, but the connections, tubing size and operating pressure must be compatible.

Check both product specifications or contact us with the tap and filtration-system models before ordering.

Does a boiling-water tap require an under-sink tank?

Most boiling-water taps use a compact heated tank installed beneath the sink. The tank stores and heats the water so it is ready to dispense when required.

Check the tank dimensions, electrical requirements and ventilation guidance before confirming that there is sufficient cupboard space.

Are pull-out kitchen taps suitable for filtered water?

Yes, selected pull-out taps include a dedicated filtered-water pathway. However, not every pull-out mixer is designed for a filtration system, so compatibility must be confirmed from the individual specification.

How should I clean a premium kitchen tap?

Use a soft damp cloth followed by a clean dry cloth. Avoid bleach, abrasive pads, descaling chemicals and aggressive cleaning products unless the manufacturer specifically confirms they are suitable.

Special finishes such as brushed brass, copper, gold and matt black require particular care because harsh products can permanently mark the surface.
