Practical planning before you order
Plan the Installation Around Your Home
Find the right guidance for water softeners, reverse-osmosis systems, countertop dispensers, whole-house filters and filtered-water taps.
The best product is only the right product when it suits your available space, water supply and installation layout. Use this hub to identify what needs checking, then continue to the relevant specialist guide.

What Are You Planning to Install?
Choose the product type below. Each route focuses on the practical checks that matter for that particular installation.
Water Softener Installation
Check water hardness, household demand, cupboard space, the mains-water position, bypass arrangement, drainage, overflow and salt-loading access.
Open Softener Installation GuideUnder-Sink Reverse Osmosis
Measure the usable cupboard area and consider incoming pressure, electrical supply, wastewater connection, drinking-water tap and future filter access.
Compare Under-Sink RO SystemsCountertop Dispenser Setup
Establish whether the unit is refillable or plumbed in, then check worktop space, clearance, power, feed-water connection and drainage where required.
Open Countertop Buying & Setup GuideWhole-House Filter Installation
Plan around the incoming main, system flow rate, pipe size, wall or floor support, isolation valves and sufficient clearance for cartridge changes.
Open Whole-House Installation GuideFiltered-Water Tap Installation
Confirm the tap-hole diameter, worktop thickness, available pressure, hose connections and whether the chosen tap needs a separate filtered-water feed.

Installation Checks That Apply Across the Range
These checks will not replace the individual product instructions, but they will expose most compatibility problems before you order.
Measure usable dimensions
Measure around pipes, traps, sockets and stored items—not simply the external cupboard or worktop dimensions.
Plan for ongoing care
Allow room to change cartridges, refill salt, clean the equipment and reach isolation valves without dismantling the surrounding area.
Confirm pressure and flow
Check the manufacturer’s inlet-pressure and flow requirements, particularly for pumped systems and whole-house equipment.
Identify pipe and fitting sizes
Do not assume every product connects directly to existing pipework. Adaptors, isolation valves or a dedicated tap may be required.
Check power and drainage
Tankless RO, some dispensers and electric softeners need power. RO and regenerating softeners also need suitable wastewater arrangements.
Consider the installation location
Garages and outdoor positions may need frost protection. Flats, rented homes and difficult mains-water layouts can require additional approval or planning.

Product suitability
Help comparing capacity, dimensions, connections and system requirements.
Planning guidance
Clarification of manufacturer specifications and common installation considerations.
Installer introductions
Independent installer introductions where suitable coverage is available.
Ongoing product care
Support with replacement filters, maintenance information and compatible parts.
