How to Choose the Right Replacement Filter

A replacement cartridge must match the system it was designed for. Similar-looking filters are not automatically interchangeable, and ordering by size or appearance alone can result in the wrong connection, filtration stages or service life.

1

Identify the manufacturer

Check the name printed on the system, dispenser, filter housing or existing cartridge. Start with the same manufacturer wherever possible.

2

Confirm the system model

Find the exact model number on the unit or in its manual. A manufacturer may use different cartridges across systems that look very similar.

3

Check the replacement stage

Multi-stage and reverse osmosis systems can use separate pre-filters, carbon filters, RO membranes and post-filters with different change intervals.

Replacement Water Filter FAQs

How often should a water filter be replaced?

It depends on the cartridge, your water usage and the incoming water quality. Some pre-filters require changing every 6 months, while certain membranes and specialist whole-house cartridges can last considerably longer. Follow the interval stated for your exact filter and replace it sooner if flow, taste or odour noticeably changes.

How do I know which replacement filter fits my system?

Match both the manufacturer and the full system model—not just the appearance of the cartridge. The compatible systems are listed on each Regal Flow product page. If the model is unclear, send us a photograph of the unit and its label before ordering.

Do all filters in a reverse osmosis system need replacing together?

Not necessarily. Pre-filters, carbon stages, post-filters and RO membranes often have different service lives. Some manufacturers offer annual filter packs for convenience, but the membrane may follow a separate replacement schedule.

What are the signs that a water filter needs changing?

Common signs include reduced water flow, a change in taste or smell, a filter-life warning on the system, or reaching the stated time or litre capacity. Do not wait for visible dirt or a major drop in performance if the recommended replacement interval has already passed.

Can I use a compatible filter instead of the original cartridge?

Only when compatibility is explicitly confirmed for the exact system model. Connection type, sealing, flow and filtration performance can differ even when two cartridges appear similar. Our listings state whether a filter is genuine or designed for a specified system.

What should I do after installing a new replacement filter?

Follow the manufacturer’s fitting and flushing instructions. A new cartridge commonly needs to be flushed before drinking the water, and electronic systems may also require the filter-life indicator to be reset.
