Clean Water Onboard: Introducing the Spark L Pure Microfilter

The Spark L Pure system from General Ecology, equipped with Aqua Polish® 7 (AP-7) micro filtration modules, is designed to be used with fresh water supplies, deemed microbiologically acceptable with regard to bacteria and smaller pathogens. Providing a rated flow of up to 26 US gpm, these systems surpass the demands for household, yacht, or aircraft water supply, and are suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial uses.

Key Features & Specifications of the Spark L Pure

For a marine installation, the most critical aspects of the General Ecology SPARK-L-PURE® microfilter focus on sealing, durability, and water flow efficiency. Double O-ring bypass prevention ensures a watertight seal, preventing unfiltered water from bypassing the system—essential for maintaining safe drinking water onboard.

The aerospace-type stainless steel vee-clamp closures provide a high-pressure, vibration-resistant locking mechanism, ensuring the filter remains secure even in rough seas. Constructed from 300 series stainless steel, the system offers exceptional corrosion resistance, making it ideal for the harsh marine environment where exposure to saltwater can degrade lesser materials.

Additionally, low pressure loss is crucial for maintaining consistent water flow, ensuring that onboard pumps and water systems function efficiently without unnecessary strain. These four features work together to provide reliable, high-performance water filtration for marine applications.

Effortless Installation for Clean Water at Sea

Installing the General Ecology SPARK-L-PURE® microfilter on a boat ensures clean, purified water for drinking and other uses while at sea. Begin by selecting a secure, dry, and accessible location near the main freshwater supply line, ensuring enough space to accommodate its 10-inch diameter and 17.5-inch height. Use stainless steel brackets or mounting straps to firmly secure the unit to a bulkhead or other stable surface to prevent movement during rough waters. Connect the system in-line with the boat’s freshwater plumbing, using the ¾-inch or 1-inch NPT threaded ports to integrate with existing fittings. Ensure all connections are tightly sealed to prevent leaks, using marine-grade Teflon tape if necessary. Before first use, flush the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions to remove any initial particles or air pockets. Once installed, the SPARK-L-PURE® microfilter will effectively remove bacteria, cysts, and other contaminants, providing safe and clean water for onboard use, whether at the dock or out at sea.

Other Key Features

  • Quick change modules – Allows for fast and easy filter replacements, minimizing maintenance downtime while at sea.
  • Sanitary finish – Ensures hygienic conditions and makes cleaning easier, reducing the risk of contamination in a closed water system.
  • Includes dielectric isolating positioners – Helps prevent galvanic corrosion when connecting the system to different metal pipes, extending the lifespan of the installation.
  • Accepts either ¾ or 1-inch lines – Provides installation flexibility, making it easier to integrate into various marine plumbing setups.

The Ultimate Solution for Whole Vessel Water Filtration

General Ecology's Spark-L-Pure® is the premier choice for whole vessel filtration. With a capacity of 30,000 gallons and a flow rate of up to 26 GPM, it is versatile enough to be installed on nearly any vessel. For higher flow rate needs, multiple units can be connected to meet the specific requirements
